We are a small team building a Canadian-owned food export brand from one category into several. That means the work is broad, the decisions are visible, and there is nowhere to hide — in the good sense and occasionally in the uncomfortable one.
Most roles here sit across trade, quality, and sales rather than inside one of them. You might spend a morning on a sourcing audit and an afternoon on a customs query, because at this size the person who understands the shipment is the person who fixes the shipment. If you have spent time in a large organisation waiting for another department to unblock you, this will feel like a relief.
It is not for everyone. There is no established playbook to inherit, processes get written by whoever hits the problem first, and priorities move when a container does. What we can promise is that your work will be legible — you will be able to point at a shipment, a market, or a customer and say you were the reason it worked.
